One of the things I highly recommend you doing this July 4th though is making these yummy patriotic red white and blue recipes and desserts. All of these were found and inspired by Pinterest and very cute and also will be super yummy and I plan on making some myself on the 4th. So, let me stop rambling and get into the FOOOOD!

Patriotic Pretzels.

What you’ll need;

-Pretzels you can use sticks or twisted.
-Candy melts (red, white, and blue)
Directions;

1.     Melt your candy melts in separate bowls for each different color.
2.     Dip your pretzels completely if using small twisted pretzels if not only about halfway for sticks.
3.     Add matching sprinkles (white stars?), swirl it with a different color than you dipped in, or even do an American flag look to them!

And it’s that simple and super yummy! Very cute also.

4TH of July Dipped Patriotic Strawberries.

This one is just as simple you guys all you’ll need is;

-Strawberries
-Candy Melts (red white and blue)
-Sprinkles (Red white or blue or all 3)

Directions;

1.     Melt your candy melts in a separate bowl again for each different color.
2.     Dip your strawberries as far in as you want and with each color pattern, you would like. I did mine white first all over, then halfway blue, then the bottom red.
3.     Add your sprinkles! I just added some sparkly type red sprinkles to the bottom of mine to add a little sparkle and more color.

Fully Loaded Baked Potato Salad.

This recipe is great for if you’re having a party/cookout or something or just want to cook a bunch of different sides and things for the 4th.

What you’ll need;

-One 5 lb bag of russet potatoes medium
-1 cup sour cream
-1/2 cup mayo
-1 package of bacon, cooked and crumbled
-1 small onion chopped
-chives, to taste
-1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
-Salt and pepper to taste

Directions;

1.     Wash the potatoes and poke holes in them with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour or until fork tender.
2.     Cool and then cut potatoes into bite sized chunks. If you want you can leave the skin on because it makes it look prettier plus there are more nutrients left in the potatoes. You can also put them in a separate bowl and once they cool enough put them in the fridge to cool all the way. Doing so gives them a great texture and stops the dairy ingredients from getting hot or the cheese from melting. If serving hot then you can just skip this step!
3.     Mix the mayo and sour cream together in a bowl. Add the potatoes, then onions, chives, bacon, and cheese. Also add salt and pepper to taste.
4.     Top with extra shredded cheese, bacon, and chives then serve!

Bacon Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers.

One of my absolute favorite appetizers/side dishes is definitely some good jalapeno poppers. This is the perfect side/appetizer for any cookout but especially Fourth of July. So I’m going to share my favorite recipe with you guys and it came from my Mom. Super simple to make too.

What you’ll need;

-Jalapeños (However many you think you will need just remember your cutting them in half so count one as two.)
-Cheddar cheese / Velveeta Cheese block
-Cream Cheese
-Bacon
-Toothpicks

Directions;

1.     First, you want to get your jalapeños and just cut them in half evenly. Then grab a spoon and just get out all of the seeds/core. Be careful if you have sensitive skin this might burn a little so wear gloves if needed.
2.     Then just grab your cheddar cheese and cream cheese and just cut out pieces of each of them big enough to fill the inside of the jalapeño. Once you have all of it cut, just squeeze it inside of the jalapeño until its filled and fits well but also has enough cheese inside. Cream cheese ones all you have to do is spread it usually. Do one half cream cheese, the other cheddar or however you would like.
3.     Once you have your cheese in them just wrap one piece of bacon around each jalapeño. If the bacon is too big and has too much around the jalapeño, just cut the bacon in half or just until it’s the right size.
4.     After you have your bacon wrapped around each one, just stick a toothpick through the center of each one so the bacon stays in place while cooking.
5.     Then just align those evenly on a baking sheet and pop those in an oven at about 350 to 400 degrees and just cook about 30 minutes or longer depending on your oven type. Mine took about 30-45 minutes. Just see if they have softened up any and make sure your bacon is cooked completely and cheese is melted.

My picks for this post;

July 4th Fun Ideas / Things To Do.

July 4th is such a great holiday and a good day just to go have some fun and do great things. Plus, don’t forget FIREWORKS! I hate how loud those babies are but geez do I love how pretty they are also. The best thing about July 4th is it’s hot out so you can usually do more and go see more things, without freezing your butt off.
So, if you need or just want some fun ideas for things to do on this July 4th just keep reading!

1.     Shoot Fireworks / Watch Fireworks.

I’m not sure if it’s legal or whatever to do this in your state/country BUT if it is this is definitely the number 1 thing on my list to do for July 4th. July 4th is known for fireworks which is why they are sold EVERYWHERE right before the day of! It’s extremely fun to do at night. If you don’t want to take on the risk of shooting some yourself just get some little sparklers or something OR just go watch fireworks which is my favorite thing to do. Back home in MS, we have a firework show at our mall every year and it’s one of my favorite things to do every year. They are absolutely beautiful and I love to watch them. I’ve also watched them at Six Flags in Georgia before which was also absolutely beautiful. It’s just a fun thing to do and something really beautiful to see.

2.     Have a Cookout.

This is something my family and I love to do on July 4th or really any holiday where it’s hot enough out to fire up the grill. My Dad is literally the best at cooking on the grill and so we actually have done this a lot when I was back home. It’s just a good day to sit outside cook on the grill, and watch nephews and nieces and little brothers and sisters run around the yard and maybe run around with them!

3.     Go Swimming.

This is an obvious thing but like, hello it’s hot out go swimming! Swimming is always a fun thing to do and especially on a holiday. If you don’t have a pool, just go to a river, beach nearby, go to friends that have a pool, or just head to your nearest waterpark if they are open on July 4th. Super fun to do and enjoy a day of swimming on a good holiday. Just don’t be like me all the time and forget to apply sunscreen and end up in pain the next day!

4.     Have a party/get together.

By no means am I telling you guys to have a HUGE party and get drunk and etc. don’t do that, you guys… you don’t need alcohol to have a good time! What I mean is head to Walmart, Dollar General, and Dollar Tree, grab some décor and food, pick out some good music, call up some friends, and have a good get together/small party. Eat some good food, swim or set up a slip n’ slide? Have good conversation and just have a good time, then you could even shoot some fireworks at night or just have a bonfire. Just make sure you don’t have any burn bans out of course before you do so.

5.     Take a Road Trip.

Road trips are always a good time. Why not go on July 4th and enjoy a day out and seeing new/different things? You could head to the beach, amusement park, waterpark, wherever on earth you wanna go and have the money to go. Just go and enjoy the day with a good person or a few good friends/family members.

So those were all of the tips/ideas I could come up with you guys, sorry I couldn’t think of more! But I hope you enjoyed this post and it helped you get a good idea of what to do on July 4th. Have a fun and safe July 4th and don’t get too crazy!

Happy July 4th!!!
