Summer Bucket List 2018

summer bucket list 2018

We all love summer bucket lists as much as fall right? I figured, well why not post one! If you like to read these as much as I do, just keep reading!

- Hit an amusement park! Six Flags, Disney, I don’t care one or the other I seriously need some roller coaster and drop tower therapy. Adrenaline rushes are my therapy.

- Road trip. Even if it’s just 2 hours to New Orleans or the Coast I just want to get out and have fun this summer which is something I haven’t done in a while. Plus, who doesn’t love a good road trip?

- Go to the beach, and I mean a lot. The thing I didn’t do last year near enough was go to the beach so that’s definitely something that I just really want to do a ton this summer!

- Have a bonfire or go to one. Just me, a few friends and family, some booze, and a good time full of stories, life updates, and fun.

- Go on a picnic, me and babe, a blanket, some lemonade, something cute and picnic like to eat, some fruit, and just sit out there on a good sunny day and eat together and relax a bit.

- Buy more flowers. One thing I don’t have in my house right now is flowers like what so ever, and I would LOVE to have some cute summery bright colored flowers and plants in my house.

- Do some yoga outdoors. I mean, I’m kind of worried about how people will view me or look at me especially in my neighborhood but it’s just something I really want to try.

- Eat a ton of watermelon. What’s better than watermelon in the summertime? That and pineapple literally nothing is better in summer.

- Go swimming more often. Last summer, I got to swim once at a waterpark in New Mexico which was way fun, I’ll admit. In all honesty, though, I wish I would have more but this summer that is definitely something I want to do more of.

Hopefully, I can complete all of these by the end of summer or at least the beginning of August and if so, I’ll feel pretty good about this summer. 2018 I’m ready for you.

Trying New Things + Finding Your Happy Place

When we're going through a lot, all we want to do is find our happy place and something that can make and keep us happy. New hobbies are always the way to go and I've been trying new things a ton lately. No, I'm not saying change yourself completely. I'm saying go out and find some things that you think you might love to do or take interest in and try them out! Recently, I made a post about needing change and going through a lot because there's been a lot of mess in my life lately and a ton of drama going on. Honestly, I'm not one for drama I'd rather stay in and chill with my love or by myself and find something to do that I love. So, I found a few things I had an interest in and wanted to try them out. First thing I started was Tarot cards and readings. Some people say not to do this it takes over your life or is evil. Honestly, it's not evil unless you make it evil. Some people use these like a Ouija board, others like me do it to connect with  themselves and their own soul and see how they are feeling. I ask questions like where my love life is going, where my life and future is headed, how am I feeling right now, what do I need more or less of, etc. It's just a good thing to do to connect with yourself more often and to just get to know yourself in a way you couldn't before.

Another thing I've started doing more of, Yoga! Used to, I thought it was a weird thing and I could never get into it because you had to have "balance" and "flexibility" but honestly, yoga is to teach you to have those things. Not only that but it helps you focus on your breathing and just sort of relax and detox your mind. It's very new to me and today was actually my first day but I absolutely loved it! It helped me to focus on my breathing, erase all of my bad thoughts, and it literally felt like a cardio session except I wasn't in complete pain during and after it. I just sweated an excessive amount but I felt GOOD about it for once. Like I'm all for cardio, and a run can kick out any stress or bad thoughts I had in my mind, but in all honesty by the time I'm done I always end up in pain and can't breathe and I feel dead and every time I do it I get shin splints. With yoga it's a good way to just breathe and relax but still burn some good calories and kick my own butt so I loved it today! There are a ton of great poses and things to get you started on YouTube and Pinterest. I used Pinterest so I could have my music and yoga poses laid out in front of me at the same time while I was moving. You might think the same thing I used to about it, but it's a really great stress and anxiety reliever. Honestly, I feel great after it and hopefully I continue to feel that way.

Also trying to do different things with myself like style wise. From dressing up more often because I really haven't lately and trying new outfits and looks. Even hairstyles and such. It's just a good feeling and will help you feel great about yourself and your confidence again! Lately I've been trying to save up and make money for me and my fiance to go on a good trip too just me and him. We haven't gotten to yet just us and we would love to and are definitely planning on it once we get a good vehicle coming up soon. Life is getting much better one day at a time and that's how I'm taking things now. Not stressing, forcing, anything. Just one step and one day at a time and going with the flow. Whatever happens happens. But lately I do feel a lot better and my optimistic side is waking back up finally. I'm also really excited that summer is coming up and it's warmer weather because that ALWAYS gets me in a better mood. In all honesty, I'm just so glad things are finally looking up for us and that soon they'll be even better because our lives have been in the dark for the longest time. These past few months, all I wanted to do was drink and get drunk every weekend and it just wasn't good because it only brought more of my depression out in me. Now I'm in such a good place I don't want to drink unless it's a fruity one by the beach with my guy. Everything's so good now and I hope it stays this way for a while.

Also, I hope you guys are all doing good and life is going good for you because you all deserve the best as well. If you are in a dark place like I was, know that things will get better. Also, if it's to do with your relationship, I finally talked to my guy and told him everything about how I feeling and really just everything and I feel so much better now that it's all out in the open and we can just move on and get along so much better now. We argue still, yes, but not near as bad. So I'll tell you guys, if it's your relationship that's causing you to be in a dark place like mine was, you've gotta tell him/her how you are feeling if you don't you'll get more down and it'll just end up right where I was. After you tell them how you're feeling and it's all there it'll either work out or maybe you two aren't meant to be and then you can just move on and start over and focus on yourself for a while. Either way, you'll end up in a happier place once you stop holding it all in and back. It's just eating you alive if you hold it all in. Let it out, say how you feel, if it works out it works out and if it doesn't it just doesn't and wasn't meant to be and you should move on to bigger and better things. Either way, do that. Then find your happy place and do your favorite things, tarot, yoga, writing, music, art, sports, the gym, running, whatever it is do it! It'll make you feel so much better. If you feel stuck and bored with your life, try new things like I am! You'll feel so much better, much more refreshed, much more energized, and life will look so much brighter! Plus, them endorphins are your BEST FRIEND. If you need anymore advice or would just like to connect with me follow me and reach out to me on social media which is linked all over my blog. You can also just comment on this post, ask questions, whatever you feel like and I'll reply!

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post and it motivated you to go find your happiness too!

Tips to Stay Motivated to Get Healthy + Keep Going to the Gym.

One of the things all of us, especially us girls, have issues with is staying motivated to work out. Honestly, it’s not even the working out part that’s hard, it’s eating healthy and staying motivated to keep doing it. Eventually you get sick of it and come up with a million excuses to not go. This is something I do and why I’m about to put a change to it to keep myself motivated and keep at it because I’m tired of not reaching my goal! It’s time to reach our goals and dreams and stop letting life and obstacles get in our way!

Let’s do this 2017!

1.     Good Music.

The number one thing that has always kept me motivated to keep going to the gym and not give up, is good music. On days my music is on point, I am on point. Not only does good music make me happy and want to dress up and look cute and just have a good day all throughout, it also makes me wanna kick a** at the gym. Honestly, I can find one good song put it on repeat and start thinking about how I wanna test it out at the gym and run to it like crazy. So, I hit the gym. The more updated you keep your playlists and songs, the more you’ll stay motivated. Music can always motivate you if your big on having your music while you workout and honestly, who doesn’t listen to music while they work out? It’s what gets me through my workouts. Turn up those jams and get to running girl!

2.     Motivational Quotes.

This is another thing that REALLY motivates me a ton. You can get on WeHeartIt or even Pinterest and just put in the search bar “Fitness motivation” “Motivational quotes” or “fitspo” you’ll find tons of motivational quotes. Not only that but a ton of pictures of healthy people that will make you want to be healthy too and also a ton of healthy food pictures and everything else. It’s super super motivating and I’ve been using this trick on and off for years now I just stop which is what makes me lose motivation. Look at them when you wake up and read some, you’ll be motivated. You could also set one of the pictures as your lock screen to look at and read every single day to motivate you and remind you to go to the gym every single day. Also, write some down and decorate it a little get a bulletin board and put them on there and keep them in a place you can read them every day, now you have motivation everyday on your wall also!

3.     Buy New Clothes.

I don’t even have to explain this too much, if you’re a girl you’ll get it. Cute workout clothes are the most motivational thing! Just do your hair up cute and wear that cute new outfit and boom, you’ll be extremely ready to hit the gym and kill your workout. Reward yourself too every time you lose a pound or a few, that way you’ll want to keep going to keep rewarding yourself. Nothing more motivating than doing this trust me.

4.     Hang a Piece of Clothing on your Wall.

You are probably thinking, “What on earth?” What I mean by this is get a piece of clothing that you can’t fit or want to eventually fit into after you lose the weight. If you don’t have one, go get yourself something like a shirt or even bathing suits are super helpful! Hang them on the wall and look at it every day to remind yourself you have to go to be able to fit into that like you want. I’ve tried this and it helps a TON. Like I said, nothing more motivational than new cute clothes.

5.     Start a Fitness Journal.

This is super super super helpful honestly you guys. All you need is a journal which you can get for like literally $4-$5 at Ross which is where I got mine and they have a ton that have really cute designs and quotes on them. You could even get a $1 notebook or something from dollar general, Walmart, or dollar tree. Anything works honestly I started off with a spiral notebook for $1 until I got my journals. You could start a bullet journal and track your workouts and everything in it OR make it completely about fitness. Lately, I track it all in my bullet journal but you could totally just start a fitness only journal. Write and draw motivational quotes everywhere in it and decorate it really cute. Also track your workouts, what you did that day, what all you ate, if you know how many calories you ate or burned write that down, how you felt during it and afterwards, honestly whatever you want to write in it. Then you can look back at your progress and its super motivational. Progress is the BEST motivation because you actually see it working and so you want to keep going.

6.     Go with a Friend / Significant Other.

Me and my boyfriend have been together for a year and a half and lived together the majority of the time so we always go together and it motivates me so much. Not only because it’s not just you going but usually one of you won’t feel like going and the other will so you just tell each other, hey no you’re getting up and we’re going. It’s actually really helpful because it makes you not miss as much all the time all because your just tired or “don’t feel like it” is my excuse usually. He helps me go and motivates me to go. Now though I have to motivate him more but he’s the one who got me into going for good in the first place so it’s nice to have someone making you get up and go all the time. If you don’t have a girl/boyfriend, that’s okay! You don’t need to have one to go, lol. Just grab a friend or even family member, one time I even brought my Mom lol, and it can still be just as fun and motivating. My Mom actually pushed me harder in the gym and told me to keep going, lol!

7.     Look Up TASTY Healthy Recipes.

I know you guys are thinking healthy eating is disgusting and boring and plain, I promise it’s not that bad! Used to I would eat a salad or some fruit and that was it and I ended up bored with it and stopped. Then I got on Pinterest and looked up some really healthy good recipes, there were a ton and all were actually super yummy! Pinterest has a ton of different types of healthy recipes to try out and honestly, you’ll find a ton that are really tasty. I didn’t think I would until I tried and I didn’t know I could cook as good as I do, until we started eating healthy and it turned out REALLY good! J

8.     Remind Yourself Daily Why You’re Doing It.

Don’t do this for a guy, over a breakup, because someone said something mean to you, or for boys or stares. Do this for yourself and your health. For you to feel confident in your own skin and happy with yourself and proud of yourself for doing it. That is why you should do it, for YOU. To feel and be healthy and happy. That’s all that should matter. If you remind yourself of this daily, you’ll keep at it and you will feel incredibly great in the end when you reach your goal.

So that’s all for this post you guys! I’ll be posting more fitness and get fit with me posts on here just to keep you guys and myself motivated and keeping at it! Remember this is for YOU and for you to be happy and healthy again! Thanks for reading you guys and check back soon for more. J I post M-F now too by the way.
Amusement / Waterpark Essentials | what’s in my bag for Six Flags and the Waterpark!
*this post may contain affiliate links*
amusement park waterpark essentials bag necessities

Sorry about the super long title you guys, honestly I had no clue how to break it down. Anyways, since its summertime, it’s obviously amusement park and waterpark season! Those are the best places to be in the summer time and six flags is my fav but sometimes it can be frustrating when you forgot something or when you need something and realize you left it back at the hotel or your house!
amusement park waterpark essentials bag necessities

If you’re like me and always realize you forgot something, here’s my essentials list so no one forgets anything again!

o    Sunscreen

o    Reusable water bottle (those drinks are too expensive!)

o    A little extra money (not much you don’t want to lose any at the park! Just enough for food if you’re eating inside the park!)

o    Wrist wallet. This is so helpful and if you get one you can fit your phone in, even better! They won’t allow bags on the rides at six flags but those they don’t mind.

o    Headphones. If you’re like me and LOVE music that much, bring them just in case.

o    Shades.

o    Ponytail holders and bobby pins, just trust me. That hair will not look as good after you’re off your first ride.
o    Hat, if you’re a hat person. I’m not though so I won’t need this.

o    Bathing suit. I highly recommend wearing this under your clothes. If you’re going to a waterpark or the amusement park like most six flags has water rides and a waterpark inside, you’ll want to wear one under your clothes I’m sure.

o    Phone protection. Usually, iPhones don’t like the sun and they definitely do not like water. Walmart has some of these pouches to keep it safe, you could get a life proof case which is $80 though, or you could just do what I’ve done and use a zip lock bag to it works just fine as long as it’s closed all the way and no holes are in it.

o    Camera. If you love pictures and are a big photographer, bring your camera along. Just make sure it’s not in your way of having fun. I like pictures but I just use my phone and it works just fine.

o    Towel/beach towel. If you go to the water park you’ll need one.

o    Backpack/bag to put all of this in. You don’t have to tote it around either usually there are some lockers at places all over amusement parks and waterparks that you can rent while you’re there. (More reasons to have that little bit of extra money)

o    Ticket/season pass. This is an obvious one but you’ll definitely need it if you’re wanting to get in! Trust me, we all forget things sometimes.

o    Comfortable, good, walking shoes. If you’re going to the waterpark just skip this because it’s a waterpark. If you’re going to an amusement park though, highly recommend investing in some Nikes or something comfortable and durable because it is a TON of walking. Especially if you want to stay an entire day like I do. I actually made the mistake of wearing sandals once and my feet were killing me and had blisters all over them, don’t be me.

o    Small travel sized perfume and deodorant. If you’re a girl, you know why I added this. All that heat and sweating, you’ll need it trust me. At least once.

So that was all for this post you guys and if you have anything else you think you should add/bring just add it below in the comments or let me know in the comments and I’ll add it gladly! Thank you guys so much for reading this post and I hope you enjoyed reading it and have a great time! J
July 4th 2017 Recipes + Patriotic Red, White, & Blue Desserts.
july 4th patriotic red white and blue desserts recipes

July 4th is finally here, so get ready to pop/watch those fireworks, fire up the grill, and get that music going. Honestly, it’s just such a fun holiday and it’s summertime so you can do whatever like go swimming, throw a party, hit the water park, cookout, shoot or go watch some fireworks, whatever you like to celebrate.
july 4th patriotic red white and blue desserts recipes

One of the things I highly recommend you doing this July 4th though is making these yummy patriotic red white and blue recipes and desserts. All of these were found and inspired by Pinterest and very cute and also will be super yummy and I plan on making some myself on the 4th. So, let me stop rambling and get into the FOOOOD!

Patriotic Pretzels.

What you’ll need;

-Pretzels you can use sticks or twisted.
-Candy melts (red, white, and blue)
Directions;

1.     Melt your candy melts in separate bowls for each different color.
2.     Dip your pretzels completely if using small twisted pretzels if not only about halfway for sticks.
3.     Add matching sprinkles (white stars?), swirl it with a different color than you dipped in, or even do an American flag look to them!

And it’s that simple and super yummy! Very cute also.

4TH of July Dipped Patriotic Strawberries.

This one is just as simple you guys all you’ll need is;

-Strawberries
-Candy Melts (red white and blue)
-Sprinkles (Red white or blue or all 3)

Directions;

1.     Melt your candy melts in a separate bowl again for each different color.
2.     Dip your strawberries as far in as you want and with each color pattern, you would like. I did mine white first all over, then halfway blue, then the bottom red.
3.     Add your sprinkles! I just added some sparkly type red sprinkles to the bottom of mine to add a little sparkle and more color.

Fully Loaded Baked Potato Salad.

This recipe is great for if you’re having a party/cookout or something or just want to cook a bunch of different sides and things for the 4th.

What you’ll need;

-One 5 lb bag of russet potatoes medium
-1 cup sour cream
-1/2 cup mayo
-1 package of bacon, cooked and crumbled
-1 small onion chopped
-chives, to taste
-1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
-Salt and pepper to taste

Directions;

1.     Wash the potatoes and poke holes in them with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour or until fork tender.
2.     Cool and then cut potatoes into bite sized chunks. If you want you can leave the skin on because it makes it look prettier plus there are more nutrients left in the potatoes. You can also put them in a separate bowl and once they cool enough put them in the fridge to cool all the way. Doing so gives them a great texture and stops the dairy ingredients from getting hot or the cheese from melting. If serving hot then you can just skip this step!
3.     Mix the mayo and sour cream together in a bowl. Add the potatoes, then onions, chives, bacon, and cheese. Also add salt and pepper to taste.
4.     Top with extra shredded cheese, bacon, and chives then serve!

Bacon Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers.

One of my absolute favorite appetizers/side dishes is definitely some good jalapeno poppers. This is the perfect side/appetizer for any cookout but especially Fourth of July. So I’m going to share my favorite recipe with you guys and it came from my Mom. Super simple to make too.

What you’ll need;

-Jalapeños (However many you think you will need just remember your cutting them in half so count one as two.)
-Cheddar cheese / Velveeta Cheese block
-Cream Cheese
-Bacon
-Toothpicks

Directions;

1.     First, you want to get your jalapeños and just cut them in half evenly. Then grab a spoon and just get out all of the seeds/core. Be careful if you have sensitive skin this might burn a little so wear gloves if needed.
2.     Then just grab your cheddar cheese and cream cheese and just cut out pieces of each of them big enough to fill the inside of the jalapeño. Once you have all of it cut, just squeeze it inside of the jalapeño until its filled and fits well but also has enough cheese inside. Cream cheese ones all you have to do is spread it usually. Do one half cream cheese, the other cheddar or however you would like.
3.     Once you have your cheese in them just wrap one piece of bacon around each jalapeño. If the bacon is too big and has too much around the jalapeño, just cut the bacon in half or just until it’s the right size.
4.     After you have your bacon wrapped around each one, just stick a toothpick through the center of each one so the bacon stays in place while cooking.
5.     Then just align those evenly on a baking sheet and pop those in an oven at about 350 to 400 degrees and just cook about 30 minutes or longer depending on your oven type. Mine took about 30-45 minutes. Just see if they have softened up any and make sure your bacon is cooked completely and cheese is melted.

So that is all for this post you guys and I hope you enjoyed. Here is a link to my July 4th Pinterest board if you would like to check out any more cool recipes for July 4th, drink recipes, or party décor and house décor ideas for July 4th

Hope you guys enjoyed reading this post and check back for more soon! J

My picks for this post;

July 4th Fun Ideas / Things To Do.

July 4th is such a great holiday and a good day just to go have some fun and do great things. Plus, don’t forget FIREWORKS! I hate how loud those babies are but geez do I love how pretty they are also. The best thing about July 4th is it’s hot out so you can usually do more and go see more things, without freezing your butt off.
So, if you need or just want some fun ideas for things to do on this July 4th just keep reading!

1.     Shoot Fireworks / Watch Fireworks.

I’m not sure if it’s legal or whatever to do this in your state/country BUT if it is this is definitely the number 1 thing on my list to do for July 4th. July 4th is known for fireworks which is why they are sold EVERYWHERE right before the day of! It’s extremely fun to do at night. If you don’t want to take on the risk of shooting some yourself just get some little sparklers or something OR just go watch fireworks which is my favorite thing to do. Back home in MS, we have a firework show at our mall every year and it’s one of my favorite things to do every year. They are absolutely beautiful and I love to watch them. I’ve also watched them at Six Flags in Georgia before which was also absolutely beautiful. It’s just a fun thing to do and something really beautiful to see.

2.     Have a Cookout.

This is something my family and I love to do on July 4th or really any holiday where it’s hot enough out to fire up the grill. My Dad is literally the best at cooking on the grill and so we actually have done this a lot when I was back home. It’s just a good day to sit outside cook on the grill, and watch nephews and nieces and little brothers and sisters run around the yard and maybe run around with them!

3.     Go Swimming.

This is an obvious thing but like, hello it’s hot out go swimming! Swimming is always a fun thing to do and especially on a holiday. If you don’t have a pool, just go to a river, beach nearby, go to friends that have a pool, or just head to your nearest waterpark if they are open on July 4th. Super fun to do and enjoy a day of swimming on a good holiday. Just don’t be like me all the time and forget to apply sunscreen and end up in pain the next day!

4.     Have a party/get together.

By no means am I telling you guys to have a HUGE party and get drunk and etc. don’t do that, you guys… you don’t need alcohol to have a good time! What I mean is head to Walmart, Dollar General, and Dollar Tree, grab some décor and food, pick out some good music, call up some friends, and have a good get together/small party. Eat some good food, swim or set up a slip n’ slide? Have good conversation and just have a good time, then you could even shoot some fireworks at night or just have a bonfire. Just make sure you don’t have any burn bans out of course before you do so.

5.     Take a Road Trip.

Road trips are always a good time. Why not go on July 4th and enjoy a day out and seeing new/different things? You could head to the beach, amusement park, waterpark, wherever on earth you wanna go and have the money to go. Just go and enjoy the day with a good person or a few good friends/family members.

So those were all of the tips/ideas I could come up with you guys, sorry I couldn’t think of more! But I hope you enjoyed this post and it helped you get a good idea of what to do on July 4th. Have a fun and safe July 4th and don’t get too crazy!

Happy July 4th!!!
